Last Day of 2021, aka 2020 won
New year, same fear. Although we have vaccines now, and a more normalized pandemic culture of taking precautions (well…60% I guess?), the overall state of the pandemic hasn’t changed. Somehow, this latest Omicron surge dramatically outpaces the first 2020 wave even though that was a much more hopeless time with even less research and data on the virus.
Its deja-vu for me, for many others. A lot of my friends have done the right thing by minimizing their celebrations this evening from orgies of dozens of people to just a handful. However, a lot of them are still celebrating with others indoors.
I am not.
I am staying the fuck home.
I am sitting this one out.
I am going to read a goddamn book while getting wasted and with any luck I’ll fall asleep at the right twilight hour or post-midnight hour that won’t mess up my circadian rhythm too badly.
I am hoping 2022 does not get worse than 2021, but I’m already doubting it.
